Leaders meet in Damascus after Aleppo clashes

This month, clashes broke out in the city of Aleppo in the north, ending with the withdrawal of Kurdish fighters. It is reported that the meeting between Shar and Abdi will be attended by the US special envoy to Syria, Tom Brack. Syrian media reported that the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum Abdi, traveled to the Syrian capital Damascus on Sunday to meet with Syrian President Ahmed Shar. This meeting comes after both sides held talks that lasted for several months last year. The talks aim to integrate the military and civilian bodies run by the Kurds into Syrian state institutions by the end of 2025, with both sides repeatedly confirming their desire to resolve disagreements diplomatically.
