Syrian Security Forces Arrest Terrorist Cell in Damascus

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the arrest of members of a 'terrorist cell' in the Damascus countryside.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the arrest of a terrorist cell involved in carrying out several attacks in the Mazzeh area and its military airport in the Damascus countryside. In its press release today, the ministry stated: 'Our security units in the Damascus countryside province, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, carried out a series of precise and meticulous operations targeting a terrorist cell involved in carrying out several attacks in the Mazzeh area and its military airport. These operations resulted in the complete dismantling of the cell and the arrest of all its members.'

The ministry added, 'These operations came following continuous monitoring and field tracking of missile launch areas in both Darayya and Kfar Souseh, where security efforts led to the identification of one of the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks and close surveillance of him, ultimately leading to the uncovering of the rest of the cell members.'

It noted that 'consequently, several security raids were carried out, during which all those involved were arrested, and a number of drones equipped for use in terrorist activities were seized.'

The ministry clarified that 'the detainees admitted to preparing to carry out new attacks using drones, but their arrest thwarted their terrorist plot before it could be executed,' revealing that all confiscated items have been seized and the detainees have been referred to the Counter-Terrorism Administration to complete necessary investigations.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed that 'all its directorates and units will remain the impenetrable shield for the homeland and will continue to uproot terrorism, enhance security and stability, and protect the lives of citizens and the nation's resources.'
