The President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, visited today, on Sunday, the province of Latakia on the Syrian coast for the first time since he became president, receiving a warm welcome. Al-Assad's visit to the hometown came the day after his visit to the Idlib province and its camp, where he met with the residents of the hometown and held a meeting with their leaders.
Immediately after the visit to Idlib - the first Syrian province he visited after assuming the presidency, al-Assad went to Aleppo, where he met with representatives of the local community in the presence of the governor of the hometown, Azam Greiba, and discussed with them the situation in the hometown. The President of Syria also visited the hometown of Afrin yesterday and its outskirts, where he met with its elders, including the head of the municipal council of Afrin for the National Kurdish Council.
