Israel Attacks Near Russian Base in Syria

Russia has requested Israel to refrain from conducting airstrikes near its Khmeimim air base in Syria, near Latakia. Putin's envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, mentioned that Israel's desire for guarantees regarding military shipments to Lebanon was not a military responsibility of Russia. He added that Israel had carried out an airstrike near Khmeimim, causing severe damage to bridges and roads.

In a report, a security source mentioned that Israel was targeting the roads between Syria and Lebanon used by Hezbollah's Unit 4400 to transfer weapons. It was noted that the Russian base in Syria has been attacked several times during the war. The Syrian Ministry of Defense also reported an Israeli attack in the southeastern entrance of Latakia, injuring two people.

In another incident, it was reported that an ammunition depot in the rural area of Latakia was attacked by drones, near a Russian air base. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that Israel attacked the area in October. Meanwhile, Russia denied that the Khmeimim air base was used for smuggling weapons to Hezbollah, stating that these were just rumors.

During the AstanĂ¡ Forum talks in Kazakhstan, efforts for a comprehensive solution in Syria and the reconstruction of the country were discussed. It was reported that Israel attacked bridges on the Orontes River and roads at the Syrian-Lebanese border in the city of Qusayr, with Syrian air defenses and Russian forces active during the attack. Destroyed storage and loud explosions were mentioned in the report.
