The Syrian General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums announced the discovery of a mosaic panel dating back to the Byzantine era, in the vicinity of the city of Qarah in Rif Dimashq. The Directorate stated in a press release published yesterday that this came during emergency excavations carried out by an archaeological team from the Rif Dimashq Antiquities Department, after receiving information from a citizen who found it while working on agricultural land. The Directorate clarified that the discovered site is located in an area locally known as "Al-Qaboo", about 15 kilometers northwest of Qarah city, where excavations revealed part of a decorated mosaic floor with geometric designs in white, black, and terracotta colors.
