Writer and journalist Khasan Akhmed Mir, a Syrian residing in the UAE, will present his new book "Cold Oblong" at the Book Fair in Sharjah 2024. Khasan Akhmed Mir has worked with various prominent publications, and last year he published the book "An Outsider Among Strangers" in the UAE, as well as released earlier another collection of short stories titled "Oblomki". He also has creative contributions in the genres of short stories, poetry, and literary texts in various newspapers, magazines, and online resources. Recently, the publishing house "Vord" in Damascus, Syria, released the book "Cold Oblong" by Khasan Akhmed Mir, which includes poetic texts of deep human and emotional content. In the author's preface to the book, he states: "When the feelings are stuck in me and prevent me from sleeping, or they straighten out until the very dawn, I pour out words, creating uncontrollable verses, some of which tear themselves out like a poetic stream, and then through time I return to the notes that were inscribed by my fingers, marked by empty letters, some morose, some bright, some harsh and pale, sometimes lighter from rare luck; that’s because it was a harsh torment that for all these years has torn from me, whom and why? This book presents the life aspects of poetic oblongs, which may please someone and not... but it is full of obscurity and clarity to the utmost before itself, trying through it to connect with those who discover in it situations and feelings for years, used, sad, contradictory and muted, but always with hope for the weak light of hope in total dependence on everything." The cover, created by designer Vardom Haider, is filled with symbolism reflecting the spirit of the written texts. The book will be available at the International Book Fair in Sharjah 2024 at the "Vord" stand Y-4.
