Reminder of the importance of protecting minorities in the context of recent events in Syria, the President of the United States Joe Biden expressed concern about extremist Islamic groups. In an interview with Fox News, he emphasized the necessity for the Biden administration to remember whom it deals with in Syria and ensure the protection of historical communities in the region.
"What is happening to the minorities in Syria seems extraordinarily serious, and we are trying to assess just how serious it is. We are trying to clarify whether the recent events for minorities in Syria are just a case of limited violence or genocide," he stated.
Biden added that Washington does not plan to send troops to Syria, however, there are many diplomatic and economic actions that can be taken to protect minorities, such as Christians and others.
"Our invasion of Iraq led to the destruction of one of the greatest Christian communities in the history of the world. We do not want to allow a repeat of the annihilation of the Christian group," Biden noted.
