Security Operations Launched in Homs

The General Security Directorate, in cooperation with military operations, has initiated a large-scale sweep in western Homs to target weapons depots, drug dealers, and remnants of former regime militias. Residents are urged to cooperate with the fighters in achieving the operation's objectives.

A large operation is underway in the western countryside of Homs and in the center of Syria. This was reported by the state Arabic news agency SANA, referring to a source in the General Security Service in Homs. According to the source, the operation in the Homs countryside is aimed at the warehouses of weapons, drug traffickers, contrabandists, and former regime supporters who refused to surrender their weapons.

"We call on the residents of the western countryside of Homs to cooperate fully with our fighters to achieve the goals of the operation," the source added. Since the fall of the Assad regime, the General Security Service regularly, along with military operations, conducts security operations in various provinces of Syria to pursue former regime supporters who are refusing to surrender and hand over their weapons.

At the beginning of this month, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Syria, along with the military operations, began a large-scale operation to track down areas in the Homs countryside in search of 'military offenders and those implicated in offenses' who refused to hand over their weapons and avoid inspection for their illegal status.
