Two weeks after a crime that shocked the town of Zeydal in the countryside of Homs and led to sectarian tensions, Syria's Ministry of Interior revealed horrific details about the murder of a couple in their home. The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Nur al-Din Baba, stated during a press conference last night that the main suspect in the crime has been arrested. Baba also indicated that the investigation with the suspect revealed that the killer, Muhammad Hamid, born in 1999, is the son of the victim's sister. The investigation showed that the suspect is a drug addict and committed his crime motivated by theft, taking advantage of his ability to enter his uncle's house at any time. The shocking surprise, according to Baba, was that the perpetrator, after committing the crime, wrote sectarian phrases with the blood of the murdered man and his wife in order to mislead justice. It is worth noting that the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior had previously denied the existence of any material evidence that the crime in Homs had a sectarian nature.
