Two Syrian officials told Reuters that on Saturday, a joint military convoy of Syrian and US forces, part of the US-led coalition fighting ISIS, came under fire while on patrol in the city of Palmyra in central Syria. The officials reported injuries. Three Americans, two soldiers and one civilian, were killed in Syria on Saturday in an ambush set by a lone armed gunman belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The command also stated in a statement that three other US soldiers were injured in the attack, noting that the shooter was killed. Earlier, two local Syrian officials had said that unknown individuals had opened fire on a joint US-Syrian military patrol in central Syria.
